Myofascial pain can vary significantly from being a secondary component of an orthopedic injury to being a secondary component of a neurological dysfunction to being a complex pain syndrome all on its own. There are various methods of treating these types of problems that will vary depending on the training of the physical therapist and on the nature of an individual case. Treatment can vary from utilizing modalities to utilization of hand tools to strain/counterstrain techniques to a variety of manual therapy soft tissue techniques.
