During her time there, she volunteered in the Athletic training room, was a varsity athlete in swimming and crew. While working at the Rehab of the Pacific in Hawaii, she became fascinated with neurological disorders and the specific challenges involved.

After a military move to Washington D. C., she became certified in Neuro-Developmental treatment, a stroke rehab approach founded by Drs. Berta and Karl Bobath of England. She is an active member of the NDTA, has attended many hours of continuing education to continue to study neurological rehab, including approaches to traumatic brain injury (TBI), multiple sclerosis, Parkinson’s Disease, Gillian Barre, stroke and spinal cord injury. She has continued interest in neurological and brain research. Presently, her clients include a wide variety of both orthopedic and neurological diagnoses. She is well-skilled and versed in rehab of total knee(TKA), total hip (THA), shoulder and low back disorders.

While stationed in Alaska, she became interested in Cranio-Sacral Therapy (CST), a light, soft-touch approach to evaluating and restoring function of the cranium, surrounding tissues of the spinal cord and the brain and the cerebral spinal fluid flow. CST was founded by Dr John Upledger, DO, after 10 years of research at the University of Michigan biomechanical department. She has had extensive training and 26 years of practice, courses including:

  • Cranio-Sacral 1 and 2 (CST1 , CST2)
  • Somato-Emotional release 1 and 2 SER1, SER2)

Margery (Maggie) Miller PT, CSCS

Specialty Programs:
Balance and Fall Prevention
Cardiac Rehabilitation
Parkinson’s Rehabilitation

Other Certifications:
Neuro-Development Treatment (C/NDT)
Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS)
LSVT-BIG® Treatment for Parkinson’s Disease

Degrees:
Bachelor of Science in Physical Therapy
Northwestern University
Evanston, IL

Professional Interests:
Maggie specializes in exercise and therapeutic movement and her treatment approach starts with the premise that movement is healthy. She believes a key to treating injury is to identify movement patterns that contribute to pain and injury and then restore healthy movement. After a thorough assessment, carefully selected exercises are prescribed to promote muscle balance, good posture and body awareness.

Maggie’s clients learn to move in ways that facilitate well integrated movement. Conversely clients learn to recognize habitual patterns that limit their athletic performance or lead to recurring injuries. Movement therapy is done in conjunction with other treatments including manual therapy and physical therapy modalities.
Maggie Miller, PT, CSCS has over 20 years’ experience as a physical therapist with a focus in treatment and prevention of orthopedic and sports injuries. In addition, she has 6 years experienced as a sports conditioning and fitness specialist.

She earned her BS in physical therapy from Northwestern University and holds certifications in ergonomic assessment and strength and conditioning of athletes. She is a member of the American Physical Therapy Association, Sports physical therapy section, and the National Strength and Conditioning Association. She has lectured at WA Strength and Conditioning Association annual meetings in the areas of ACL injury prevention and core stabilization.
